Are artificial trees out of style?
I won’t actually be sharing any real olive trees in this post! But artificial trees are definitely in style and actually gaining popularity over the years! And it’s easy to see why! First of all, they are incredibly low maintenance. And second of all, there are so many that look insanely realistic.
When it comes to olive trees you could totally buy a real one! However, it won’t save you money (real ones seem to be around the same price range as fake ones). Also it’s actually a lot of work to keep one alive indoors. So that’s your call if you are a stellar plant mom and think you can handle all of that! And there are of course lots of benefits to having real plants in your home. But if keeping a plant of that size alive sounds daunting, keep reading on to see my selection of the best fake olive trees your money can buy!
What home decor style does the olive tree go with?
The indoor olive tree is totally the trend right now! It’s easy to see why, it gives your home a bit of a Tuscan vibe. Plus the sage green leaves are such a nice natural hue.
Honestly I’m a huge proponent of if you like how it looks, don’t worry about what home decor style it fits! But if you like to stick to a style or you’re just curious I think it works best in transitional, modern farmhouse, and organic modern style homes. These homes tend to favor more neutral and/or earthy tones, so the olive tree fits right in! It can also work in a minimalist style type of home as well as it’s definitely a gorgeous stand-alone piece of decor that has a nice and simple look to it.
Are these faux olive trees with pots?
So all of the artificial olive trees I am sharing do come with planters or pots. But some of them are just very underwhelming and not very pretty! So even if the tree you like does come with a pot you may find that you want a planter, pot, or basket that makes more of a statement or goes more with the vibe of your home. In that case I am also sharing some faux olive tree pots that are super chic for under $50.
Similar tree styles
Love how the olive tree looks but not digging the olive aspect? You may like these similar tree varieties in your home instead!
Eucalyptus Tree
This is for sure the closest looking to the olive tree. The muted tones and similar leaf shape and size makes it almost a dead ringer for an olive tree! I am sharing some affordable options below if you think maybe this type of tree is more your style.
Ficus Tree
Another plant that has a very similar look and style to the olive tree. A very popular indoor plant, with tons of different varieties out there, but the ficus Benjamina seems to be the closest variety to the olive tree!
Tips on decorating with faux olive trees in your home:
I love the idea of putting the tree in a corner that you just don’t know what to do with! It fills that space and can be a gorgeous fixture all on its own, or you can hang some wall art in the corner along with it. I also think it is KEY that the olive tree is in a pretty pot, not the boring black plastic one that most come in (yes some come in gorgeous pots already which is nice).

The Best Faux Olive Trees
Home Girl’s Pick: Phimos Amazon Tree (Overall Best Faux Olive Tree on a Budget)

Pricing always changes on Amazon, but I scoured the faux olive tree selection on there and this falls somewhere in the mid range of the prices you’ll see on there for olive trees. I was able to snag it at under $100 so that felt like a win, especially since most quality artificial olive trees are typically $200 and up!
This bad boy does not disappoint. I am working on getting a photo for you of mine, but in the meantime if you want to see some more real life examples of the quality check out the reviews section too. Lot’s of videos and photos that show just how amazing this little tree is!
The listing states it is 5.24 feet tall. It also comes in a 4′ size and 6.25′ option. The 5.24′ is a nice height for my house with low ceilings. The tree looks realistic, the leaves are made from a silky material and are a nice muted sage green (not bright green and plastic) and it has fake olives on there too.
Personally, I am wanting something a bit bigger and more earthy colored for the pot, so I will be purchasing one to place it inside! All in all, this plant wins as my favorite if you’re weighing your options on a budget.
The Runner Up: Studio McGee at Target

This Target option is just *chefs kiss* if you’re looking for a fuller, taller option to fill a larger space. It’s insanely popular, and with good reason! It’s totally gorgeous in person (I don’t own it but I have seen it in-store) with its light and dark green muted sage colored leaves.
It checks all the boxes: realistic-looking, gorgeous colors, comes in an actual nice pot, and it’s taller than most options out there at 93 inches (7’9”). Yes it’s a bit more money than the Amazon one, but it’s also more plant (fuller and taller). For sure the way to go if you’re designing a more open, larger space.
The Splurge: Chris Loves Julia Olive Tree on Etsy

So I was really unimpressed with the review section on the Crate & Barrel faux olive tree (it looks so gorgeous, but at that price who wants to have any doubts?). Pottery Barn was where I turned to next but with zero reviews on their site, and a hard time tracking down home decor bloggers or anyone IRL who I trust that owns it, I didn’t feel good about recommending that one either!
Enter: this Etsy listing! Discovered this on the Chris Loves Julia blog (if you don’t follow their Instagram, I highly recommend!). It’s totally gorgeous with over 4,000 RAVE reviews. Plus we love supporting a small business! So this was a total home run. So if you’re gonna splurge, I feel SO good about this one. People in the reviews are saying it’s incredibly realistic, and the size is perfect for filling out a space with taller ceilings.
The Super Saver: Olive Potted Arrangement at Target
Okay so obviously this is not a full blown tree. But this is a great option for just dipping your toes into seeing if you like the whole olive tree vibe in your place. At $30, it’s SO adorable and I love how full and natural looking the plant is. Of course it’s not a tree, just a smaller potted plant, but it’s an easy way to add that touch of greenery to your space without fully committing to buying a big fake tree about it!
So that’s my full roundup of the best faux olive trees on the internet right now. What did you think? Plan on buying any of these options? Know some even better options? Let me know in the comments below!
