Cute Kitchen Decor Ideas on a Budget

Ok sometimes we gotta add a little somethin’ somethin’ to our counter space, right? I say less is more, but always love styling a kitchen counter top or island with some chic cute affordable decorative objects.
Check out these ideas for some inspiration below!

And here are some cute kitchen decor finds that are all under $50:
Decorate your kitchen walls with framed artwork
Decorating the walls is an easy way to bring some personality to your space. Wall decor can be expensive, so I always recommend finding good cheap frames and then printing something out yourself. Or you can head to a Walmart, Target, HomeGoods or find something on Amazon that’s already framed and ready to go for cheaper if you’re not big on doing it all yourself.
I’m a huge fan of McGee and Co framed artwork, but the price is just crazy to me. If you love McGee and Co finds but you’re on a HomeGoods budget, be sure to check out my post on the best McGee and Co dupes here! I share lots of framed artwork there.
I also have another post on the best modern farmhouse wall decor ideas too if that is more your style!
And below I am sharing some more great kitchen wall art ideas on a budget.
Buy chic and neutral kitchen gadgets
One way to easily upgrade your space is to invest in neutral and chic kitchen gadgets that match your overall kitchen color scheme. These can look beautiful but also make your kitchen super functional. Since you likely need or want these items anyway, it wouldn’t actually be an additional cost if it’s time for an upgrade to your kitchen gadgets.
Below are some great finds that you can get on Amazon!
Find clever ways to hide your kitchen gadgets
So I totally get it if you read that last tip and you’re thinking there is no way you’re going to buy all new kitchen gadgets just to match your kitchen’s aesthetic. In that case, I would suggest finding creative and functional ways to hide them so they are still accessible!
Also there are no rules here. If your bright yellow stand mixer makes you happy to see on your kitchen counter every day. Leave it there! But if you’re like OMG why did I register for that color 5 years ago and it’s totally in the way all the time. I invite you to check out these sleek kitchen organization solutions below to hide your kitchen gadgets!
Buy chic but affordable counter height stools
If you have a kitchen island or counter, don’t forget some chic counter stools definitely count as functional decor! They can add a nice flair to your space and be as useful as they are beautiful. If you love a more modern look, then definitely check out these options below.
Choose a sleek garbage can
So I know a garbage can isn’t exactly decorative, but if it’s not hidden away it can definitely bring down the aesthetic of your kitchen if it looks awful (and if it smells). I love these sleek and neutral garbage can options that are kitchen sized and under $100!
Add a chic runner
If your kitchen is big enough, adding a rug runner to your floors can totally add a lot of flair to your space. It’s also nice to stand on something a bit softer if you’re cooking for long periods of time! These options I am listing below are super chic and would look great in any kitchen!
Easy DIY Kitchen Decor Ideas on a Budget
Sometimes a little DIY is in order to spruce up your kitchen without totally going broke paying professionals to renovate it. These little upgrades can make a huge difference, and I promise they are super easy! (And super cheap!)

Apply a peel and stick backsplash
If you’re not totally in love with your kitchen backsplash, but don’t want to shell out money to have it replaced and done professionally. You can totally DIY very easily! There are peel and stick backsplash options that are super modern and look amazing. Having a backsplash that compliments your design style and the rest of your modern kitchen will make a huge difference as far as the overall look and aesthetic of the space. And I promise I wouldn’t share this hack if it wasn’t super simple to do it yourself! Plus you don’t even have to remove an existing backsplash if it’s already there. So easy.
Below I have some affordable and modern peel and stick backsplash options you can check out!
Apply a contact paper counter top
So this one blows my mind! If you love the look of more expensive countertops, and you just don’t have the budget right now, then you can totally fake it! Hating your current counter tops is such a drag, so this solution works until you can save up to upgrade your ugly countertops! Another super easy DIY project for your kitchen that will make a huge difference!
When it comes to this project, I don’t trust Amazon or Wayfair or any site like that! You want to make sure you’re doing it right. This Etsy shop has tons of positive ratings with photos you can check out! Plus they can even send you a sample beforehand. Definitely a great choice if this is a DIY project you’re interested in for a low budget kitchen makeover.
Replace your cabinet knobs
A fun and easy upgrade? Update your kitchen cabinet knobs! Mine were all silver, and for a more modern farmhouse look to my kitchen I decided to upgrade to black. It was insanely and inexpensive easy to do myself and I got them on Amazon.
Paint the kitchen walls and/or cabinets

Paint is always an easy upgrade to any space! Whether you plan on repainting your kitchen cabinets or the walls, it can totally transform your kitchen. If you do it yourself it’s an easy way to save some money while upgrading your kitchen.
What’s the best paint finish for kitchen cabinets?
The best finish will be semi-gloss or high gloss so it can stand up to the wear and tear of constant cleaning! Skip the matte, satin, and egg shell finish paints.
What’s the best type of paint for kitchen walls?
Definitely choose a semi-gloss or a satin finish. These are shinier finishes, but will do better long term if you need to wash off random food and grease mishaps that are bound to happen in the kitchen!
Try out wallpaper
Doing wallpaper in the kitchen is another fun and easy way to add an easy but inexpensive decor touch to your space. You can do the whole kitchen or just a fun accent wall! (Team accent wall over here!) There are so many super easy peel and stick wallpapers out there now, so even if you change your mind eventually or if you want to be able to sell your place more easily in a few years, they will come right off with no issues!
